Writer. Educator. Storyteller. Dream Builder.
Silk Jazmyne is a writer and teaching artist with a deep love for stories that blend reality and imagination. With an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Tampa and a B.S. in Communications from Florida International University, Silk brings both craft and clarity to her work.
She’s taught with GrubStreet, Kitchen Table Literary Arts, and The Porch, helping writers of all levels explore speculative fiction, world-building, and the emotional truth that drives unforgettable stories. Her short fiction has appeared in midnight & indigo, African Writer Magazine, The Gateway Review, and more.
Above all, Silk believes storytelling is a form of healing, resistance, and creation—a way to honor the worlds we come from and imagine the ones we want to build.

Speculative Stories with Heart, History, & Vision
Silk’s fiction explores identity, legacy, and transformation—often through speculative lenses that ask, what if the world could be otherwise? Her stories weave together cultural memory and imagination, blending the mythical with the deeply human.
She also contributes essays and reviews for Black Girl Nerds and facilitates conversations across the literary community about Afrofuturism, resistance, and the power of narrative.
