In late 2022, the author of The Island Sisters, Micki Berthelot Morency, shared with our reading community that her new novel would be coming out in June 2023. Not only did I read this wondrous tale, but I also interviewed Micki to understand her motivations.

In Everland, time stands still, rules are nonexistent, and the party is always going. This portal novel deals with human truths, reminding us how much we all actually have in common.

Phil Stamper is an author who understands growth in movement. Originally from a rural village near Dayton, Ohio, Phil’s journey has taken him from his home state to Washington, DC and on to New York.

It’s easy to bemoan your roots. To be angry with the trauma passed down that hinders you in certain ways, but I’m learning how to be happy with who I am in this moment.

“The universe will bring you full circle to places you have been before just to show you how much you have grown. Enlightenment is an ascending spiral, not a circle. You must continuously come back to things you thought you understood, to experience different forms of ascension.”

The first time I went to therapy, was in 2001 when my parents got divorced. I was a Navy brat at the time and I guess it was policy for me to see a counselor. I don’t exactly remember what the counselor said or asked. My memory says she was a white woman with red hair, but I’m not really sure.
